Java Back-end Engineer

Key Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain Java-based backend services and REST APIs for the Chargebacks team. • Enhance alerting capabilities and backend support for configurable notifications. • Partner on technology enablers including database upgrades, integration, and scaling strategies, as well as containerized service deployment. • Participate in release cycles, feature iteration, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Provide technical leadership through code reviews and mentoring, and actively contribute technical perspective in requirements and planning discussions. • Operate effectively across concurrent initiatives and shifting priorities without loss of quality or velocity. • 7+ years of professional software development experience with a strong Java backend focus, including Spring Boot and SQL • Experience building scalable, high-availability SaaS platforms • Strong REST API design and service-oriented or microservices architecture experience • Expertise with relational databases; PostgreSQL and/or Oracle experience preferred • Familiarity with containerized deployment environments (Docker/Kubernetes) • Experience with complex workflows and decisioning systems • Proficient in leveraging Claude Code and other AI-assisted development tools to deliver high-quality software at velocity • Comfortable operating in high-velocity, fast-changing environments • Agile/Scrum experience and strong collaboration skills
